Cut Records makes a habit of sharing – “Our aim is to show you that free music can be as valued and highly regarded as any other,” and they’re making an excellent case. Since it’s inception they have been emitting short bursts of energy in the form of small EPs from various talents, most of which are completely unknown to me. They have a flair for post-dubstep ambience, and often combine many elements of UK Bass to synthesize this sort of no-rules dance music that hearkens back to the days of dubstep before it was transformed into a Frankenstein of metallic squares waves and distortion.
Summer Moments marks their fifth free release since April and since peeping it yesterday I’ve listened to it 5 inconsecutive times (it’s under 15 minutes long). Like the name implies it’s filled with, well, summer moments. Floating melodies in brimming atmospheres held together by minimal percussion and deep kick drums. It’s the perfect mini soundtrack to your favorite time of year.
